Teaching system

Related to the teaching system, the first thing the teacher does before the class started is writing the subjectives for today, every subject is opened and closed by prayers. The teacher should recall the last activity the pupils have done and introduces the new topic for today. The teacher will discusses the topics and usually gives the class an activity such as imaginative talk, role-player, head number games and many others.

The teacher guide for the topics is curriculum map, there are grade level standards and subject prerequisite for one subject. This curriculum map is prepared by the teacher and reviewed and verified by the subject leader, validated by the assistant of principal and approved by the principal. So the curriculum map is made once in a year for every quarter. The curriculum map already has every topics with each meetings that going to be done for each quarter. There is also table of specifications for each subject for one quarter. This table of specification shows the compentencies that the pupils has to reach.

The teachers for each subject have to apply not only the lesson plan but also the curriculum map and table of specification for the subject and have to follow so many things until it’s approved by the principal. So that’s why there is Subject Team Leader (STL) for checking on each subjects so it can be done properly.

Material and other learning sources

The materials and learning sources are from the text books, e-books, or articles from the internet. The media that teacher usually needs in a class are laptop, projector, projector screen and another materials such as worksheets, pencils, or others. Since the school is using technology, but for lower grades, they still need books. Every pupils or students always bring so many books in a day. They also have their own materials if it’s needed.

The teacher also didn’t fixated by books, so not every topics has discussion in the books. The teacher The teacher prepares topics that are suitable for short and long term skills for children. Therefore, the learning sources must be more varied, but referenced from reliable articles.

Measurement and evaluation system

This is the measurement of the evaluation system in SPUS. The teacher also says that she always gives another opportunity for the pupils who haven’t meet the expections yet.
