Welcome and Orientation Program

Its Jan 16, 2019 and its my second day here in Surigao city. As the schedule that my coordinator gave us, today is the Welcome and Orientation Program. It was basically an opening ceremony.

The activity started at 8.30 in the morning, we had our breakfast at the canteen.

After that, we directly went to the President’s room. The opening ceremony started with singing the national anthems, Philippines, Indonesia and following with Thailand and the ecumenical opening prayer. It was really nice because there was a lot of differences that we already experienced, from the national anthems, kind of prayers and greetings. We had the welcoming address by the President of the University, introduction of the members of SPUS Administration and SEA – Teacher Work Force, the introduction, such as the place we are we staying in Indonesia by all the participants, overview and expectation by SEAMEO SEA-Teacher Program by the coordinator program, basic education house rules and academic expectations by Assistant Principal of Senior High School, accommodation and facilities by the Vice President from Administrative services, canteen and financial services, safety and risk reduction management by NSTP Coordinator, and following by the opening form and closing prayer.

the rundown for the opening ceremony

From this welcoming program, we got lot of information about this university and we can take all of the good sides that maybe we can apply in our own country.

We took a photo for a documentation. All of the Susters and the workers are very kind and welcoming. I feel like home here.

After that, we had lunch with the President and Suster and got to take a little rest before going to take the campus tour with Mr. Jhon and some of the Junior High School students.

It was really interesting, we've got to see the grade, junior and senior high school buildings with all of the facilities. It was really informative. So basically this basic school has the pre – school, elementary, junior and senior high schools. The grade school is in the same building and actually connected to junior high school building, its divided by the library for the grade and junior school.

After the orientation, we directly went to the main campus in the center of the city. We were there for looking around and had our picture taken to get our ID.

We also went to the department store to buy our daily needs.
